About Frank Ho

In 1995, Frank Ho started a Vancouver Ho Math Chess Learning Centre in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He was a computer consultant with a master's degree in statistics and a BC certified math teacher. Frank has a bachelor's degree in Statistics and Computer Science and a master's degree in Statistics. He worked as a Statistical Consultant at the University of Utah and the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, for almost 20 years before he founded the Vancouver Ho Math Chess in Canada.

Frank did not know how to play international chess at all but wanted to teach his son chess, who was five years old. This mission resulted in his son becoming the youngest Canadian chess master at the age of 12 and creating over 30 math and chess-related workbooks. Frank also has presented math papers at the math conferences.

How did it start? In 1995, I realized a strong correlation between math and chess, but no products were on the market that allowed the youngster to work on math and chess combined questions. I didn't sit around and wait for someone else to create this product. I took the initiative and created the world's first integrated math and chess workbook for elementary students.

Frank's idea of creating mathematical chess puzzles for elementary students is the world's first. The set of math and chess workbooks has become an icon of a unique teaching method, Ho Math Chess Method©.

The Ho Math Chess method© is to integrate mathematical chess puzzles with mathematics.

Frank personally tested these workbooks and is continuously making efforts to improve these products. Teaching himself personally allows Frank to gain substantial insight into the needs of how students could improve their math knowledge and skills while exhibiting a range of learning styles and levels of interest.
